New condominium development scheduled for heart of Daniel Island
But with the recent addition of retail centers, offices and sports stadiums, the elongated peninsula splitting the Cooper and Wando rivers is developing a "downtown." And now, the central district is set to receive its first influx of residents.
Crews are clearing land for 200 River Landing Drive, a complex with 90 condominiums in what's considered the island's "urban" sector. Daniel Island is a 4,000-acre community in Berkeley County and within the Charleston city limits.
All 30 condos in the first of three similarly sized buildings will be released for sale Feb. 18. Construction will begin this spring on the three-story structure. The builder is Trammell Crow Residential, a partner of the island's master planner, The Daniel Island Co.
The condos will be within walking distance of many island amenities, including shops, restaurants, businesses, schools and a supermarket, said Julie Dombrowski, company spokeswoman. The 1,210- to 1,716-square-foot units also will be close to a river walk, parks and jogging and biking trails, as well as the Family Circle Tennis Center.
"More and more people are looking for opportunities to live within an urban context in property with low-maintenance requirements," Dan Kingsbury, vice president of sales for Daniel Island Real Estate, said in prepared remarks.
The condominiums will be located between the Wando River and the intersection of River Landing and Seven Farms drives. Amenities will include a 3-acre natural park overlooking marsh and a pond, and a swimming pool with sunning deck, shaded arbors and outdoor grill.
The prices for the first 30 condos will be from $244,000 to $343,000. There are six floor plans for the two- and three-bedroom dwellings, which have large master suites with walk-in closets, 10-foot ceilings and wide terraces, Dombrowski said. Interiors include 6-foot windows, stainless-steel kitchen appliances and cultured marble countertops in the bathrooms.
Residents will have storage units and elevator access in ground-level garages and climate-controlled entrances and corridors. They also have reserved parking.
"The time is right for the downtown living options on Daniel Island to expand," Kingsbury said. For more information, contact Daniel Island Real Estate at 971-7100.
